Our EVS team always go above and beyond. With all the construction barriers patients/pedestrians have had a hard time getting around. Thank you, Richard Lewis was helping pedestrians, get to the entrance correctly and safely.  

I want to recognize Clay Leftwich who has been serving intermittently as a greeter at Riverside 1 for his superior service. He brings a joy to every morning, greeting staff and patients with an enthusiasm that brings smiles. He watches people approach- and eagerly opens the door to the stairs or calls the elevator before we step foot in the door. I am honored daily to get to work with someone like him. 

Caitlyn (Cat) Stepp is an NRV ED RN and she is one of the most compassionate RN's that I know and have had the privilege to work alongside. Every weekend I see her go over and beyond for not only her patients, but the patient's families as well. She takes care of the patient, makes the family members feel comfort and care, all while taking care of their sick loved one with grace, commitment and above all compassion. This isn't a special one time WOW, this is a WOW RN whom every weekend shows up for her patients, is an advocate for her patients, and truly loves to learn, help, and care.

Shout out to my amazing team (Sarah Kress, Macy Ware, Courtney Murphy, Sharon Parker, Patrick Randolph, Keith Little, and Lisa Linger) that helped bring our 6th Annual Carilion Children's Memorial Service together this year, which was held on Saturday June 7th. It was an incredibly beautiful event with a butterfly release, music, poetry and numerous healing arts activities.

I am thankful for each and everyone of these people, making this even so special and memorable for our families who we have had the honor to care for at Carilion Children's over the years.

Acy Collins, Amber Jones, and Shawn Farewell aided a co worker during a blood sugar crisis. Helping her get blood glucose back safe levels and continuing to monitor throughout the day.

If you have ever ordered food in the morning from Mountain View Cafe, then hopefully you have had the pleasure of meeting Wesley Coleman. This gentleman serves food the right way. When most of us have not even wiped the sleep from our eyes; we are greeted with a big smile. More often than not, he probably always knows your order. His personality and charm will definitely wow you. A lot of the people I work with have commented on how uplifting it is to go in the mornings to get breakfast. When he is not there it just is not the same. Wesley, you the man, keep it up.

Here is what Robin's patient had to say about her:

Robin took care of me during a recent hip replacement. She explained everything that was happening or was going to happen thoroughly. She checked on me the whole time I think she knew that I was anxious with the long wait. She showed great compassion. She talked to me and shared stories, and got me a warm blanket when I was cold. 

Cassie is a phlebotomist at the lab at CRBH. Not only is she great at her job especially with the difficult stick patients- but she does it with a smile on her face every time! We are so thankful for her in the ED. 

This year during Nurses week we took nominations at CMC for the below Nursing Superlative Awards!  After a team reviewed some really amazing nominations, the winners were selected and celebrated over the past few weeks!  So thankful to have such amazing nurses at our organization and we appreciate the impact each of those nominated and awarded have made on your teams and our patients.  On behalf of the Nursing Recognition Council, congratulations!
