Not Just a Boss, a Leader

I would like to take a moment to recognize the Central Referrals and Authorizations (Parkview) Manager, Lauren Norville. She recognizes that every team member is not only a significant individual but also an essential part of this entire organization. She strives to enhance the happiness and well-being of the team by supporting them and giving them what they need to excel. There is not enough words to express the appreciation of what she has done and continues to do, to go above and beyond the call of duty! She is the true definition of a compassionate leader.

Excellent MRI tech

I'm an employee at Carilion, but I was recently a patient.  I had an MRI performed at Riverside and the MRI tech was Darcell Witcher.  She is EXCELLENT at her job!  She educated me about what to expect, she updated me regularly during the study and she just generally made me feel very comfortable.  Darcell, thank you!  I appreciate you and the care you provided to me!

Shining Light in the ER - Frances Wood

Submitted by lmahan on

This weekend I had the unfortunate luck of ending up in the ER for an injury, I want to take this time to recognize Frances Wood (Franny) in the ER, who was so caring, compassionate and supportive during my time there. She checked on me multiple times, took my personal belongings to my husband before surgery, and came back to PACU after surgery to bring my crutches. She is truly a demonstration what a caring, compassionate person is, and I was so lucky to have her take care of me! Thank you Franny!

A huge wow and thank you to Lainey on 8MPCU. While I had to pleasure of working with all the staff, Lainey was the nurse assigned to my pts and she was so helpful to me and so sweet. I couldn't have asked for a better nurse to have during my shift!!!

Congratulations to Brandon Akers, RN, Clinical Team Lead on his 2020 Healthcare with a Human Touch Award.  His unconditional care and compassion for patients and staff are just a few of the reasons he was nominated for the award.  We are thankful to have Brandon as part of our St Albans work family.

Spiritual Support at CFMH

( Better Late Than Never).

Many of us were very upset about having to work Easter Sunday am,  plus the Churches all being closed,  so we could not even go there  when we got off duty. Who ever dreamed you would not be able to go to church on Easter sunday?  ( The same person who dreamed we would have no toilet paper!).

Our Hospital Chaplain, Rick Poland, showed up at Shift change that morning ,with a sermon and even Communion for those that wished to partake ( he sang , too, no opinion about that).

Our Sabbath Moment...

Submitted by lyboyd on

This week, I had the fortunate pleasure of stumbling upon "Our Sabbath Moment".  Chaplain Seth McCormick from Carilion Home Health and Hospice produces a daily email titled "Our Sabbath Moment" for his team.  Seth shared "a few weeks ago Sharon Parker asked me to write a daily devotional of sorts to help provide EPE, "Emotional Protective Equipment," for our Hospice and Home Health teams which has turned into my "Our Sabbath Moment..." emails".  Seth and I connected this when I shared a thank you card that I had received from a past family member served in both the Palliative
