Stephanie Tatum, CPhT has always been a great Pharmacy asset in CNRV ED completing Medication Reconciliation for patients.  Now with the ED busy with potential COVID-19 patients, she has made an even bigger difference. In addition to working creatively on Med Recs for patients without entering negative pressure rooms, she has jumped in and taken on the daily tasks of refilling the ED and Pediatric Pyxis machines so other Pharmacy staff do not need to enter the ED.

My father recently had a heart attack and was in Observation on 7E before being admitted.  LPNs Megan and Kelsey and RN James took great care of him.  They were quick to respond to any concerns.  Megan treated him with dignity when he was sick and vomiting, Kelsey had a personable approach, and James incisively led and supported the team.  When he was anxious, they all calmed his fears.  Each person made an impression on me in the short time he was on their unit.  Thank you.

Kathy Ott, Ashli Semones, Styles Crawford spearheaded the implementation of the Enterprise Staffing Command Center.  The team efforts required TSG/Communication expertise, TSG/PC work, and new database/forms to be created.  Appreciate your leadership and everyone's assistance in making this important center a reality!  

Barbara Arritt and Justin Gortmann ride to the rescue of several dozen patients, and as many oncology care providers! Carilion Clinic hosts a half dozen cancer conferences every week, and the every day work of fighting cancer has its front line start there. The patient's case is posted, and then our pathologists and radiologists show the images to a team of clinicians: nurses, chemotherapy docs, radiation docs, surgeons, medical specialists, navigators, genetics, dentists, therapists, learners...

This WOW is for the entire authorization team at the Crystal Spring Cardiology office lead by Tina Cook. They have been fantastic partners with the CVI Revenue Operations team to help prevent account denials. We so appreciate their dedication in working together to find solutions and improve processes!

So many members of our Marketing and Communications team have dropped all other work to dedicate their time and talents to COVID-19 communications, and I cannot thank you all enough. Led by Chris Turnbull and Hannah Curtis, we are developing communications to distribute across our media channels -- email, Inside Carilion, CarilionClinic.org, social media and more -- and working closely with the news media and community partners to spread facts, not fear.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation celebrated this week with their patients in recognition of National Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week. The week had a tropical theme and the group celebrated with an "island" themed meal today. There were giveaways for the patients as well. This group provides excellent patient care and customer service every time. The patients love coming to pulmonary rehab and are always sad when they "graduate" from the program. The group provides excellent collaboration with each other and the patient's healthcare providers.  Happy Pulmonary Rehabilitation Week!

I have been a Carilion employee for 5 years and I have never seen Collaboration at work the way I did last spring when I saw Tonya Robertson, N.P. as a patient for what I thought was a hernia. Tonya quickly corrected me and got to work coordinating Imaging, General Surgery and labs to confirm what was clear to her: non-Hodkgin’s lymphoma.

It was all celebrations last Thursday on 9 South PCU for being the Positive Change HCAHPS Patient Experience unit in cleanliness.
EVS frontline caregiver Mr. Jose Gutierrez was recognized along with the amazing nursing staff members for the incredible collaboration and teamwork!
