I would like to give a big shout out to Nicki Attkinson and Donna Sink of Respiratory Management. Through these trying times of not knowing what was gonna happen with Covid, how to treat and approach, and our plan and best means of treatment on each floor also with gathering resources so that the department could have everything we needed.  I have to say they both stood up to the plate. Not once has our department been without from increase in equipment needs to managing staff shortages.

Just want to say a special Thank you to the Materials Management team. I called the number listed on the Contact page- Lindsay Gilmore answered forwarded me to Katrina who connected me with Greg Holcomb NRV and got us the N95 masks and P100 filters we needed right away! Great Collaboration. Very efficient.  Supported our team in having a great day! 

On Friday, January 15th, CRMH did not have a Bed Marshall for the day/evening.  Thanks to the collaboration of Stimis Smith, The Clinical Transport staff/department, Lucas Paxton, the EVS staff/department, Phillip Johnson, Mini-Distribution, and the Hill-Rom Technicians, a plan was put into place and the hospital needs were met. A HUGH thank-you to each person that made this possible! Great Teamwork and Collaboration!

Brambleton Family Medicine helps vaccinate the Roanoke Valley. Over the last week. The Brambleton team has vaccinated almost 530 healthcare workers and Carilion patients! Way to go Brambleton and a job well done! 

Join me in congratulating Melissa Crigger, CFMH Infection Preventionist and Employee Health Nurse. Melissa has been chosen to receive the CFMH Great Catch Award for December for her attention to safety detail and employee safety during the roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccination clinics.

Congratulations Melissa!  On the first day of vaccination administration, Melissa noticed a dosing error in the vaccine scanner. This affected all Covid 19 vaccination documentation across the Carilion system as it was brought to attention and corrected!

Congratulations to Chaplain Andrew Tressler and Unit Director, Suzanne Bowser for receiving a Henry Luce Foundation research grant. They will be collaborating on a Code Lavender project along with the Chaplaincy Research Lab. Thanks to the constant care and support of our staff across multiple departments, 50 lives were saved through 22 individual organ donors at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in 2020! 

Since 2015, CRMH has been instrumental in saving the lives of over 300 organ recipients!

I floated to 8S Radius the other day to help with charge and take patients. It's sometimes overwhelming thinking you are going to a unit you are not used to, and especially to do charge there, but Mary made it absolutely wonderful. She is so helpful, and helps run that unit like clockwork. Any questions I had, she had the answer to it. I can't thank her and the other staff that day enough for making it a smooth shift. Thanks so much!!

I wanted to share my pride in our leadership team here at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. When we received word that the COVID vaccines were on their way, the leadership team here went to work establishing clinics, workflows, assignments and everything needed to make giving the vaccines a smooth process. Not only were there internal groups to take care of...there were external groups as well which required excellent collaboration. There was work to be done with our local health dept and our local EMS crews.
