Carilion Clinic Cardiovascular Institute participated in their 4th annual Safety Week event at the Crystal Spring Tower.   About 50 construction workers received blood pressure checks, learned how to use AEDs, and asked questions about improving their cardiovascular health.

ION collects 93,000 aluminum tabs for the Ronald McDonald House!

Thank you to everyone who participates in the Ronald McDonald Tab Top collection program at ION. In less than nine months, the collection house was filled with aluminum can tabs for recycling. The total weight was 81.8 pounds!  This is approximately equivalent to 93,000 tabs! These tabs were delivered to the Ronald McDonald House in Roanoke, who will recycle the tabs to raise funds used to operate the house. The 4 South Main PACU would like to shout out Kathy Furr for assisting PACU in a time of need. She has come over on multiple occasions to assist with patient transports when PACU is backlogged. Thank you, Kathy, for going above and beyond! 

CFMH participates in Regional Exercise

CFMH Emergency Management and Leadership  participated in a Medical Regional Surge Exercise on April 30th. This was a coalition required annual exercise in which our leadership and Emergency Management team participated in. The exercise was led by our amazing Safety and Emergency Manager, Betty Underwood along with Adrienne Sato, our Imaging Services  Manager acting as Incident commander.

A big thank you to all of the departments and individuals who participated in our 2025 Earth Day campus cleanups!  We had participation from CTCH, Ion, Riverside 3 and our logistics team at 2823 Franklin Road in Roanoke.

Tanglewood Pediatrics Initiative Supports Home Management of Fevers and Respiratory Symptoms

The Carilion Tanglewood Pediatrics Team partnered with the Antimicrobial Stewardship Team to launch a new initiative aimed at improving at-home temperature tracking and symptom relief in pediatric patients. Fever Care Kits—which include a thermometer, simple symptom relief items, and an educational bookmark on fever and infections—are now provided to patients presenting with suspected fever or respiratory symptoms, and at newborn and 1-year well child visits.

Employees Go Green!

In honor of Earth Day, Carilion Wellness at Work recently collaborated with Sustainability to host the "Going Green" challenge throughPersonify Health

Congratulations to the 707 employees who participated in the 12 day habit challenge.  Overall, 375 winners achieved a sustainable habit  at least 10 of the 12 days!
