Tanglewood Pediatrics Initiative Supports Home Management of Fevers and Respiratory Symptoms

Submitted by esnowak on

The Carilion Tanglewood Pediatrics Team partnered with the Antimicrobial Stewardship Team to launch a new initiative aimed at improving at-home temperature tracking and symptom relief in pediatric patients. Fever Care Kits—which include a thermometer, simple symptom relief items, and an educational bookmark on fever and infections—are now provided to patients presenting with suspected fever or respiratory symptoms, and at newborn and 1-year well child visits. The goal of this project is to empower caregivers with information and tools to manage minor illnesses at home and reduce demand for unnecessary antibiotics.

Do you have a stewardship idea? We would love to collaborate with your outpatient practice! Additional information can be found here: Antimicrobial Dashboard and Related Resources | Inside Carilion
