Recently, Dr. Michelle Rockwell and Dr. John Epling were nominated and awarded Mentors of the Year by VTCSOM. Last week was Rehab Week and CFMH was celebrating all week long! :)

Mismatch Monday, Throwback Tuesday, Western Wednesday, Twinning Thursday and Jersey/Team Friday was a success! 

Janine Powell, RN and Sherry Ball, RN from 2W Radiology were able to collaborate with the CSI Radiology Nursing staff to assist with Coronary CTA procedures so patients would not have to be rescheduled. Thanks for all your hard work and assistance!

Kristie Hodges in CFMH Surgical Services was nominated for a Great Catch by Kristen Brandenberger, PharmD for recognizing an adjustment in a patient's infusion medication dose that could have resulted in a delay for the patient and significant cost to the system. Kristie communicated this finding and avoided any delay or disruption in care for the patient! Thank you, Kristie!

Recognition for a Great Catch – Shana Murphy

The Quality Team at CNRV would like to recognize Shana Murphy for an outstanding Great Catch. Shana identified a critical discrepancy between the patient’s glucose levels reported on the BMP and the fingerstick readings taken within 10 minutes of each other. Noting that the patient was edematous and receiving pressors, Shana suspected the fingerstick results might be inaccurate. She promptly notified the provider, leading to appropriate treatment with insulin.

Shoutout to Brooke Priest-Buckner, NP on 10S Palliative, for her sharp observation and swift action to protect her vulnerable patients! Brooke noticed that a patient on the unit was COVID-19 positive, yet isolation precautions had been lifted prematurely—before the patient met the criteria for discontinuation. Without hesitation, she alerted the unit’s Infection Preventionist, clearly explained the situation, and ensured the patient was promptly placed back on isolation. Thank you, Brooke, for your keen attention to detail and your commitment to patient safety.
