The DAISY Award was established to recognize hard-working and dedicated  nurses for performing their duties with care and compassion in their service to our patients and families here at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  Please take a moment to read Savannah's story below. 

The CRBH Picnic yesterday was a big success!  Thank you to our Event Chair, Summer Clemmer, and committee members Amanda Kay and Dee Dix, along with many others, who made this a special day for our hospital team. The weather was perfect, the food was amazing and the games were so fun!   Thank you, John Stallard, from CHEFS Catering, for the wonderful food. Again, thank you to those who organized the event. 

Every year at about this time, Scarecrows show up throughout the Town of Rocky Mount. They have been known to show up at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital as well. They are all friendly and add quite a neat touch to our beautiful Town. They also give good reason to take a walk or drive through town to see the many creative scarecrows that almost every business creates. 

On September 27th, the Nursing Center of Excellence presented the Outstanding Preceptor Award to Riley Jensen, RN from 8MICU at CRMH. Members from the Nursing Center of Excellence presented him with the award alongside his team members and nursing leaders. His nomination read, "Riley has a presence and practice of utmost quality.

On September 27th, the Nursing Center of Excellence presented the Outstanding Preceptor Award to Brian Francis, PCT from 10W at CRMH. Leaders from the Nursing Center of Excellence presented him with the award alongside his team members and nursing leaders. His nomination read, "Brian was always willing to help me and guide me when it came to tackling new tasks. He taught me how to calm myself down when things got overwhelming, and he taught me many tips and tricks on how to make the days easier.

On September 26th, the Nursing Center of Excellence presented the Outstanding Preceptor Award to Desiree Caldwell, RN from the medical-surgical unit at CGCH. Members of the Nursing Center of Excellence presented her with the award alongside her team members and nursing leaders. Her nominator wrote, "We knew from the beginning, what a huge asset that she was to our department with the knowledge that she possesses. When I asked if she would precept a nurse extern, she gladly accepted. In watching her interact with the nurse extern she is very thorough.

On September 21, the Nursing Center of Excellence presented the Outstanding Preceptor Award to Linda Watson, RN from 5W at CRMH. Members of the Nursing Center of Excellence presented her with the award alongside her team members and nursing leaders.

On September 27, 2023 teams across the organization joined Carilion Mental Health on a walk to remember those that have lost their lives to suicide and to remember the communities that are impacted by suicide each day. Thank you to those that joined us today.

Carilion Clinic recently received accreditation for the Targeted Therapy Center located at Crystal Spring Imaging.  The accreditation option became available in June with the SNMMI and the IAC and staff in the NM/PET Imaging department have been working diligently to achieve this prestigious opportunity.  We are one of only three sites in the nation to receive this accreditation and we are beyond proud of the team for continuing to drive quality care and excellence for our patients and the organization.  Congratulations to all that worked to achieve this outstanding accomplis

Congratulations to Marty Misicko for earning a spot in the Top 10 of Healthcare Design Awards. Marty was the 2023 Facility Manager winner, as honored by Healthcare Design Magazine.  He was recognized for his keen insight into healthcare trends and innovative approaches to to tackling critical challenges in the healthcare field.  We extend gratitude to Marty for his leadership in the Crystal Spring Tower project and commitment to enhancing our daily operations.
