Carilion Giles Community Hospital achieved the highest overall patient experience scores in the state for the period from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023. This accomplishment reflects the collective effort of every team member and showcases the hospital's commitment to delivering excellent care to the community. Congratulations on this achievement and thank you for your ongoing drive and determination to continually improve.

Congratulations to Dr. Daniel Rukstalis and the entire team at Carilion Giles Community Hospital for successfully randomizing the final patient in the EXPANDER-2 clinical trial. Reaching patient #240 is a significant milestone, and it's a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collaboration of everyone involved in this important study.

Our Carilion Wellness and Occupational Health teams shared valuable health resources at the recent Virginia Women's Conference in Roanoke. Great job working to improve the health of the communities we serve!

When we were unexpectedly short staffed Christy Johnson and Makayla Miller stepped up to the plate and came in early, worked late and agreed to additional patients so that our patients could get the care they needed. They also worked over to complete a project that had a very short time frame to be completed. I appreciate you ladies and am proud to work with such great team players. 

Carilion Clinic Hospice continues to highlight our "We Honor Veterans" focus with veteran themed trees this holiday season.  Christmas trees were placed at the Hotel Roanoke, Doubletree Inn, Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, and Carilion Giles Community Hospital.  The Franklin Hospice team placed an outdoor tree at the Rocky Mount Veterans' Memorial Park.  Earlier this month we were featured on WSLS.  You can watch the segment by clicking here:

I was in for a biopsy surgery the care i received from the beginning of my stay until the end was outstanding. 

Just wanted to recognize Candy Saunders! She is celebrating 30 years with Carilion Clinic! What an accomplishment. She is such an asset to us in the Retail pharmacy department and we are #CarilionProud of her achievement! Thank you for all your years of service and commitment to your co-workers and patients! 

Thank you to Karen Marable, Sandra Ensor and Dr Anthony Slonim for rearranging your schedules to provide care for Adolescent Medicine patients when a provider was suddenly out of work for a week.  You three made it possible for us not to hardly have to reschedule any patients.  Great teamwork especially for Karen who provided care at the city high schools clinics and had never worked there before.  We appreciate you all!
