Keagan Balthis, Guest Services, is a great leader. When I started, he did an excellent job of training me in each area and is always checking in to make sure things are going well. He is a gem!
Leonard Gaskins works hard to keep Carilion looking good. I have encountered him many mornings at the OBGYN Jefferson location. He always greats me with a friendly smile. I'm impressed that he cares about doing his job well. He even cleans the lower street side of the building where the office is empty and not used by staff or patients. This area is where the bus stop patrons wait, and pedestrians tend to linger, especially after hours. It has a trashcan placed there by Carilion, but there is often cigarettes and other litter against our building.
Congratulations to 11W for remaining HAI Free for over 6 months!! It is impressive to see all the hard work that has went in to achieving this recognition and is fantastic to be able to celebrate your success! Your team's commitment to rigorous infection control practices and patient safety is truly commendable.

Today, we celebrated Lindsay Young, BSN, RN, CRRN, and the 20-year Carilion Clinic Work Anniversary. Lindsay is the unit director for CVI PAPA and PACU. She started her career as a nursing assistant in the cardiac PCU and continued her career as an RN in the cardiac PCU, 8MTICU, Resource Pool, and then CCU. She became an OM in the CCU before she was promoted last year as a unit director for PAPA and PACU. Thank you, Lindsay, for your service and for watching you grow as a leader!
Congratulations to Dr. Richard Massaro and the CRMH Electrophysiology Lab Team for implanting their 100th Medtronic Micra leadless pacemaker. This minimally invasive technology offers a pacemaker without a lead, is MRI compatible, can have shorter procedure times, and was the first commercially available product of its kind. Carilion Clinic Cardiovascular Institute is the first in the area to reach this milestone.
Our recent electronics recycling event on 3/10 in Roanoke was a resounding success, with 855 cars dropping off a variety of electronic items (totaling over 48,000 pounds!) for responsible disposal. The event provided employees and community members with an easy, environmentally friendly way to clear out unwanted devices while ensuring proper recycling.
CRBH would like to recognize and thank Dianna Coffey, RN for 38 years of dedicated service at Stonewall Jackson Hospital and Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital in Lexington, VA. Dianna worked in the ICU and ED at the former Stonewall Jackson Hospital. She also worked as a flight nurse, educator, and in employee health for Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital. Dianna was a tremendous asset to our community and to our organization.
