On Saturday, Nov. 15, 50 members of our Home Care and Hospice team enjoyed an exciting night at the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs hockey game in honor of Home Care and Hospice Month.  Tonie Bailey, a team lead in Home Care, proudly represented Carilion by performing the ceremonial puck drop to start the game.  This celebration was made possible through Carilion’s ongoing partnership with the Rail Yard Dawgs and served as a heartfelt “thank you” for the compassion, dedication, and exceptional care these team members provide every single day.

CRBH and Dr. Whitworth would like to recognize CRBH OR RN Erin Nicely for a recent Great Catch!  While completing a surgical timeout and reviewing the patient's allergies, Erin noticed that the patient could possibly have an allergic reaction to a Chromic suture that was going to be used during the procedure.  After further research, it was determined that the patient could indeed have a reaction to the planned suture, so the team decided to use a synthetic suture instead.  The patient ended up having a successful surgery and experience.

Submitted by arjamerson on

Yesterday, members of Carilion’s Organ Donation Council partnered with LifeNet Health to visit the units that make organ donation possible here at CRMH. We were honored to be joined by Keeley Healing Arts Program Artists in Residence, Kyler Jackson and Michele Walter, who brought creativity and beautiful music to the day’s activities.

Organ donation is only possible because of the dedication and compassion of countless team members across our organization.

Because of you, lives are transformed.
