Heather Hall, RN: Home Care Hero!

Submitted by twstewart on

Heather Hall, RN with CNRV Home Health went the extra mile last week and it truly paid off for one of our patients.  Heather wasn’t able to make contact with a new admission that was assigned to her on that particular day.  She tried to call multiple times.  When she couldn’t get an answer she contacted the discharge planner at a local facility to make sure the patient had been discharged and that she had the right contact information.

Paula Lane went above and beyond to assist a patient in receiving the care he needed to prevent him from being readmitted. She is an asset to the Giles Boxwood Family Practice and a great team player with the Care Coordination Team. Thank you Paula for all you do!

(from ED Shift Report) Trish Akers from EVS volunteered to stay after her shift ended to help us in the ED as we were very busy past PM - she stayed until 4AM making beds, cleaning rooms, helping us with turn arounds - this is above and beyond and SO needed and appreciated.  I know Trish loves her ER folks, she is such a blessing!

The Extra Mile

Thanks to Bethany Myers, our clinic was able to accommodate a patient who needed a STAT lab after the courier had already picked up.  At 7 PM, Bethany made the trip to the local hospital to drop off a lab specimen for the patient.  This saved the patient a trip back to the hospital lab to have the test drawn.  We appreciate the commitment Bethany shows to our patients and our clinic!

Leigh Morris is a prime example of an employee who represents the 5 Cs of Carilion Clinic.  When Leigh received a patient’s radiology report that raised some concern, her commitment and compassion to the community served by Carilion Giles Community Hospital became a reality to the patient.

Core Staff Comes through

We needed a specific item for a case. Several were sent out to on loan Community Hospital's OR.

Nikki Simko and Thomas Jackson in our OR main core made sure that since we only had one of these instruments in the building, that the needed item was sterilized and ready for the case. They saved us from a delay and helped our day to be super efficient! These staff members show us their dedication to service everyday, but I wanted to recognize how much we appreciate their efforts!

Above and Beyond in the OR

I wanted to recognize one of our Peri-operative Techs: Elaine Taylor.

When a patient from PICU came down she was a huge help and when the patient was in surgery she scrubbed EVERY inch of the bed all the way down to the floor! She really went above and beyond to be sure the patient had a sparkling clean & comfortable bed to rest in after surgery. WAY TO GO Elaine! We appreciate your dedication!
