Great Catch Christine Clifford!

Christine Clifford RN received a hand-off report on a stroke patient coming from a OSH.  The patient was to have a CT IV contrast exam before admission to 6Mtn ICU.  The patient had a history of anaphylaxis to IV contrast, and had not received pre-medication for the contrast exam.  Christine called the appropriate provider and re-routed the patient, avoiding a unsafe condition for the patient.  Thanks for looking out for the patient!

Commitment: the smooth running of any organization depends on effective employees like Kirk and Timothy who accept the responsibility of carrying out the day in and day out actions needed to help employees achieve the company's set goals. Once again, thank you for your commitment to one of our Carilion best value: commitment, and for providing excellent service to every person coming to inquire about your services in nursing.

Orzallah Popal translated for a family whose child was extremely ill in the Pediatric ICU.  She remained with the family during their entire stay, and was awake for the majority of 36 hours straight.  Her service was instrumental in accurately relaying medical information, but also in cultural insight for the PICU team.  Her work was most impressive.

Veronica Delfin had a patient that uses home oxygen but came to hospital for a surgical procedure without bringing his portable oxygen tank.  Veronica took the time in PACU to find out who his home oxygen provider was, contacted them and arranged for a portable tank to be brought to the hospital.  This was a big help and added in through put from the Phase II area.   Her help in getting this process started was  the right thing to do for the patient and much appreciated by the Phase II nurse as well as the patient.   Thank you Veronica!!
