“First do no harm” is a fundamental principle of medical ethics that CVI employees strive to achieve every day.  When members of the CVI care team began to see patient skin tears related to the EKG electrodes, they reported their concerns via SafeWatch.  The CVI Quality and CAPS teams began an investigation, a MedSun report was submitted and the CVI Business & VAT teams graciously coordinated a formal trial of alternative electrodes.

Patient was here for hospital follow up, had her blood work done and stated "Barbara" is absolutely the best, nobody can ever find my veins, and she had absolutely no problem!!" "Wish I could go to her every time!"

Congratulations to the NICU!  In March, they are celebrating 1 year without a Ventilator Associated Event (VAE) and 6 years without a Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI)!  What amazing accomplishments achieved through commitment to the safety of their patients!

The 4 West Ambulatory Surgery Unit celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in true team fashion by coming together to enjoy festive green treats and beverages while sharing some well-earned smiles and camaraderie. Moments like these highlight the strong teamwork, positivity, and connection that make this unit so special.

The CVI Vascular and Endovascular OR staff would like to congratulate Sarah Goetz for successful completion of her RNFA program! Sarah has been a valued member of our OR team for 9 years and serves as a Charge Nurse, Preceptor and mentor new hires and our entire team!  Way to go Sarah!!!!!

We are proud to recognize two of our Neurosurgery residents for their outstanding achievement at the 2026 Winter Clinics for Cranial and Spinal Surgery, held February 22–26 in Snowmass (Aspen), Colorado.

Thank you to all staff members at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center (CNRV) for your commitment to recycling for a purpose! CNRV collected 158 pounds of aluminum can tabs for recycling, in just 10 MONTHS! The Ronald McDonald tab top collection program collects these tabs and donates them to the Ronald McDonald House of SW Virginia, who recycles them and uses the funds generated for daily operations. 

In total, Carilion Clinic has recycled 1,522 pounds of tabs - a total of 1,727,470 tabs! 

Sierra Megan Hartman has been a dedicated/committed employee for over 15 years at SCA Credit Services. She is extremely professional and knowledgeable in her area.
