The acute care SLPs at CRMH want to give a HUGE shoutout to 8 CST PCU for their awesome oral care reminders posted on the unit! Looks fabulous!

Mackenzie proactively identified an extended‑infusion cefepime order that had been placed ahead of the official rollout and noted that the required concentration was not yet available in the smart pump library. She promptly raised the concern, allowing Pharmacy to confirm that the concentration had been inadvertently omitted during the build. The missing concentration was quickly added, and a mid‑cycle pump update was deployed systemwide.

Derrick responded very quickly to the maintenance request! He was at the bedside within 5 minutes to assist my patient with drain flies! Thank you Derrick! 

Employees took advantage of sunshine and socialization on April 1, National Walking Day. 12 walks were led by Wellness at Work supporters and champions system-wide!

According to the American Heart Association, walking at a brisk pace for 150 minutes a week can boost mood, improve sleep and reduce the risk of heart disease.  1 in 4 U.S. adults sit for more than 8 hours a day; walking helps counteract the effects of sedentary behavior.  

The staff at Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital are committed to recycling and supporting our local Ronald McDonald House. The team collected 36.8 pounds of aluminum can tabs to be recycled! Thank you for taking the extra step to recycle and support our patients and families. 

Across all participating Carilion locations, this program has recycled 1,559 pounds of tabs - approximately 1,769,238 tabs!

Congratulations to Rachel Altizer and Robin Woody for their achievement in becoming Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS), at CRMH! A CNS is an advanced practice registered nurse with high level clinical expertise in a specialized area. Evidence-based practice reveals that CNSs improve patient outcomes by diagnosing and treating illnesses, along with mentoring frontline teams. Kari Decker collaborated with our international RNs to explore Roanoke, support physical and mental wellbeing, and personally lead two hikes at the Star Trail. Thank you for all that you do to advocate for our employees Kari! Your commitment is unmatched! 

Melinda went above and beyond to assist me with getting proper PPE for a chemo pt my unit had today. She explained typical procedure they use on 10 South and helped to keep my coworkers safe today. Thanks for being such a team player. I greatly appreciate you.
