The Rocky Mount Rotary Club presented Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital with the Community Paul Harris Fellow recognition on Friday July 2nd at the annual Rocky Mount Rotary Independence Day Festival. This was presented to CFMH in recognition of the work that our hospital has done throughout our communities over the past year. I am so proud and honored to share this news and I hope that our staff will always remember the importance of serving and taking care of our communities.

The CAPS Team is excited to announce that the staff from the 9M PCU submitted the most non-anonymous Near Misses/Unsafe Conditions (Great Catch!) in the month of June, for a total of 7 Great Catches! Your commitment to patient safety is shining through and we want to take a moment to celebrate you! Your team is a valuable asset here at Carilion Clinic.

While serving at the emergency department screening area at CNRV, screener Kaitlyn Kracke, heard a dog barking inside a car on the opposite side of the parking lot.  Concerned for the dogs safety, she contacted Carilion Police to check on the dog's well being.  Police and Security units located the vehicle and found the dog to be inside the vehicle with all windows cracked.  Still concerned for the dog's safety, officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle and gave advise for pets in vehicles on warm or hot days.  Way to go Kaitlyn, keep getting after it!

Julie Reese and Jamie Agee collected expired medical supplies in our Joint Commission preparation activities at CGCH.  Between the two, they collected over 60 expired items and won movie tickets for their work.  These ladies are awesome and their efforts are much appreciated! 

Savanah Wilson, Healthcare Administrative Assistant (HAA) of the Giles Community Hospital - Medical Office Building (MOB) was recognized by a patient stating it was “a pleasure to deal with someone who goes above and beyond and cares about their job”. Savanah is an outstanding Carilion Clinic employee who is committed to her work and compassionate to all her patients. She greets all the MOB patients with a warm welcoming of gratitude and appreciation for their visit to the Giles MOB. She is a diligent worker and goes above and beyond to complete all her tasks.

A huge thank you to everyone who has been a part of the accreditation process at the Center for Simulation, Research & Patient Safety.  The CSRPS has received full accreditation through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.  This is a major accomplishment for the simulation center and truly shows the commitment to provide quality healthcare to the communities in which we serve.  I am so proud of each of you!
