CRNV Social Work goes the extra mile for patient safety!

Submitted by kasteele on

Recently, two of the CRNV Social Work team, Phil Holland and Brittany Farrar, recognized an unsafe situation regarded a patient who had been discharged. Phil and Brittany escalated the situation urgently and were able to get the issue safely addressed in a very timely need! Way to go Phil and Brittany!

All of the social workers at CNRV are fantastic at going above and beyond in their care and attention to the needs of patients- this is just one example of their commitment to our patients!

Congratulations to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for being recognized as High Performing in Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy) by U.S. News & World Report. This is the first time U.S. News has published a list of Best Hospitals for Maternity.

CRMH is one of eight hospitals in Virginia recognized as high performing and is the only in the region to earn this distinction. Congratulations to all who contributed to earning this major achievement!

CFMH Great Catch!

Submitted by rrwunderlich on

The October Great Catch Award goes to Shilynn Amos in Pharmacy.

Shilynn was preparing doses of medications for delivery to ACS and questioned why the patient was taking immediate release nifedipine only once day. Usually immediate release would be dosed several times a day and extended/sustained release would be dosed daily. The physician was contacted and the order corrected so the patient would receive the extended release formulation once daily,  this matched her home medication regimen.

CTCH Helping Hands- Autumn Jessee

Submitted by dmbrumfield on

Several weeks ago, Autumn Jessee (Screening) volunteered to work in my department to help fill a critical need due to an unexpected staffing shortage. She jumped in without hesitation and filled a role that helped my team and our patients. She was such a blessing at a time when options were short and concern high. My team and I are thankful that she offered to step in and do whatever it took to fill the gaps until someone else could get there.

Today, 12/1/21, one of our own is retiring after 30 years with Carilion. Kay Ferguson, RN has been such a staple to our practice. She always carries herself with grace, understanding and compassion to all patients and staff. We will miss her greatly but so happy to see what her next adventure holds. Thank you Kay for being a leader at Brambleton Family Medicine. We love you Kay.

Amazing Customer Service

Carol Wilson and the rest of the Cafeteria staff have really done an amazing job keeping all the coffee refilled for the coffee for employees. They all have really met this daunting task head on and definitely deserve recognition for their commitment to our collective caffeine needs! They normally provide great service on a daily basis but they have really gone above and beyond with this latest assignment. Cannot thank this group enough!!

Daleville Velocity Care staff to me is the epitome of the Carilion Clinic Commitment. Even before the pandemic our team is committed to providing the best care for our patients. Since the pandemic we have become stronger and more driven to provide the necessary and safe care our community deserves, whilst taking care of each other here at the office.  We have worked day in an day out for nearly 2 years and never faltered. Oh yes, we have stumbled but we are committed to Carilion, our team mates, and our community to make it through this stronger.
