Recognizing Injury and Violence Prevention Professionals

Submitted by ocwalker on

Injuries and violence affect the health of individuals and communities across the country. According to the CDC, more Americans ages 1–44 die from injuries and violence, including overdose, suicide, and homicide, than any other cause. Most importantly, many of these injuries are PREVENTABLE.

Prevention is the first step in the trauma care continuum. Through education, outreach, resources, and community partnerships, injury and violence prevention professionals help reduce risk factors, promote safety, and support healthier communities.

Went over board

Kristi Maddox went above and beyond for a patient and a doctor. Dr Dye office had been trying all day to get a read on an xray. We had no radiologist to be found. The patient was in tremendous pain. Kristi not only spent time digging to find a contact, but she got a radiologist at the hospital to read the kub. Not only was the doctor extremely thankful because no one was helping him, but the patient was very relieved. Her and I even went to the 3rd floor of ccr3 to track down Dr Dye's nurse to let her know the read was being done as we speak.

Stephanie Fields was helping a patient and was reviewing her chart to make sure her records were entered and upon attempting to print the patient records she noticed that another patients records were entered in the patients chart. She called the office supervisor and had passed on to be handled. Great catch on noticing that there were wrong records in another patients chart!!!

On Tuesday, May 5, the IC team brought energy and enthusiasm across the system in celebration of World Hand Hygiene Day!

At RMH, Paddy and the team made rounds throughout the hospital, sharing sanitizer, lotion, stickers—and of course, valuable hand hygiene education. Over in New River, Ashley and Loren kept the momentum going, distributing hand hygiene goodies and connecting with staff across the facility. At CFMH, Franklin joined Angela and the team to show support and spread awareness, creating a lively atmosphere filled with giveaways and plenty of smiles.
