On April 28th, Rehab services recognized some of our most committed staff members for Administrative Professional's Day. We had employees from our Westlake, Roanoke, Salem and Lexington clinics join us for some friendly (maybe a little competitive) bowling. The leadership team is so appreciative of all they do a daily basis to make sure the patients are taken care of.  We send a huge shout out of "THANKS" to everyone. We also want to say Thank you to the Therapists and Rehab Aides who covered for the HAA's while we were celebrating.

Shut out goes to Jennifer Hunnings in CCU! Leticia Taylor, with Quest Lab, would like to recognize you! She stated you were super friendly and you went out of your way to help her with a patient and it wasn't even your patient. Thank you for all you do!

Carl brings so much value to CFMH and the surrounding community, and we're grateful to have his leadership driving efforts and managing all the great things coming out of Franklin. Thank you for your leadership!

Niki Hale, Sr Director of Occupational Health and Whitney Long, Director of Wellness, made a special trip to one of our local manufactoring companies in Rocky Mount in order to provide blood pressure checks and other health/wellness related information even though the large,  planned safety event was cancelled. The company asked if they would be willing to come on site and provide this opportunity. Without hesitation, they both loaded up their vehicles with information and provided a very well attended opportunity for the company workers. 

Guest and Volunteer Services hosted their first Appreciation Dinner since 2019 on April 25.  With more than 140 volunteers currently in the program, 7 of them were recognized for their compassion and commitment to their volunteer role.

This dedicated group serves in a variety of areas, including Pet Pals, Outpatient Surgery, No One Dies Alone (NODA) and Guest Services/Hospitality.

When you see any of our wonderful volunteers, please take a moment to thank them for making a true difference in the lives of others.

Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital’s Endoscopy team has been dedicated to their recycling efforts for multiple years. They recently accomplished another goal of recycling 500 pounds of plastic through the Trex Soft Plastics Recycling Program and obtained another bench. This bench was placed outside of the main entrance to CRCH and is dedicated to Dr. Long. The plaque on the bench reads, “In remembrance of Dr. Long who described himself as ‘just a surgeon’ but was in fact a colossus in his field and service to his community”.

A patient was admitted from a skilled nursing facility. It was noted that the patient had a chronic foley catheter that had been placed after a surgical procedure for urinary retention a couple of months earlier. 

Dr. Shah questioned whether the patient needed the chronic foley catheter. After researching the history of the chronic catheter, he ordered voiding trials and urecholine. Voiding trials were successful, and the patient was able to have the catheter removed and be discharged without a catheter! 

Our second annual Electronics Recycling Day was a success! Approximately 480 cars attended the drive-through event and recycled a total of 31,875 pounds of electronics. Items ranged from flat screen monitors, computer towers, laptops, cell phones, and broken ellipticals!  

Catie Park, PharmD recently went above and beyond to assist a patient with their medication.  She personally delivered to the patient to resolve a problem.
