MENTORS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Submitted by klmccarthy on

I want to take time to shout out Jacqueline Wagner of Parkview site location. Jacqueline is a mentor in our department, and she is a true inspiration through her openness to sharing her knowledge and compassion to helping others learn. She dedicates her time in ensuring new hires like me have the tools and knowledge; not only to grow and succeed in their roles as Patient Access Representatives, but to become a better version of themselves. She has been an advocate, role model, counselor, and advisor.

Stroke Alert Team at Salem Red Sox

Submitted by News Team on

Salem Red Sox hosted Carilion’s Stroke Alert Team to teach BE FAST when responding to stroke symptoms. Biraj Patel, M.D., accompanied a former patient to the field to throw out the first pitch on Saturday while the team handed out stroke alert education. Many thanks to the Stroke Alert Team for their dedication to this important service and showing up to cheer on our patients throughout their health journey. We continue to celebrate our recent Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center certification by the Joint Commission.

NPIFs are the KEY to Nursing Professional Development and Quality Patient Outcomes

Submitted by kehundley on

I would like to give a special shout out and thank you to my team of Nursing Practice Improvement Facilitators (NPIFs). They not only support the needs of one unit, but two. They are an amazing few who not only the learning facilitators on many of our inpatient units, but also act as a change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for their specialty, and partner for transition to practice. They work for the cause, and not the applause. However, this week I want to recognize then all for their passion and dedication to safe practice: gain and sustain.

Carilion Urology NRV team

Submitted by malayton on

I want to reach out and recognize Carilion Urology NRV for the service they provide to all of their patients. They have been under-staffed with providers, nurses, and front office support staff. Not only have they provided care to their current patients but continue to take on new patients daily. This team knows good teamwork. Providers have added days or increase the number of patients they see, the front office staff works with nursing staff to make sure patients are scheduled in timely manner and our manager team assist and offer guidance to the staff.

Submitted by cmbutt on

Wanda Arrington Manager for the Carilion Martinsville Family Practice/Internal Medicine woke up early drove to the Panera Bread in Roanoke so that her staff could have fresh bagels when they opened the office this morning. There is no bagel shop near them and she has done this for a couple year during Healthcare Recognition week.

Kudos for you Wanda for going above and beyond for your staff!
