She obtained detailed history and apparently built a good rapport with the patient, which was extremely helpful for the doctor doing the admission and the treatment team. Thank you Patricia!

Since 1983, Carilion Clinic has been at the forefront in another area – caring for patients following traumatic injury. Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH) remains one of only six Level 1 Trauma Centers in the Commonwealth of Virginia equipped to care for the most severely injured individuals.
Special thanks to Karen Mulkey, Infection Preventionist and Community Health Outreach Educator for speaking to the Tazewell 4H Homeschool Group on the importance of staying active. She organized two hikes for the children and had huge participation. Homeschool children do not always take a formal PE class, so activities like this are valuable to their development. Thank you Karen for your dedication and commitment to our community.
Our Kristie Williams was the keynote speaker at the New River Community College R.N. graduation and pinning ceremony last night. Her comments were well received by everyone in attendance, especially the new graduate R.N.s. Kristie spoke from the heart, providing inspiration and insight, sprinkling humor into her comments that will long be remembered and cherished by the graduates.
The 2023 Week of the Nurse celebration at CRBH was capped off with the presentation of the first two Daisy Awards in hospital history. Deneen Davis, RN and Karen Jones, LPN were selected from over 20 nominations due to their commitment to patients and co-workers.
Ladaria Shorts within our Human Resource department helped me get into SAP (career app inside Carilion). She made this process seamless, along with Savanah. Thank you both ladies!! Your kindness will never be forgotten!! Blessings!
Mary Anne with Case Management on 7 east was working with a difficult patient trying to get them home safe. She went out of her way to pay for the cab herself to make sure he got home to his dog that he was worried about.
patient admitted to SCU for A-Fib RVR. heart rate on monitor showing 130's. Alisa Pence CA ran admission strip on patient. Strip shows heart rate of 110. Reported to physician and went in to check monitor. Found with pulse ox and manual check that patient's heart rate 74. Cardizem rate was titrated down as a result. If not for Alisa doing an admission strip and reported it to the physician, patient would have been on a higher dose of Cardizem that was needed. Great Job!!!!!
