Celebrating a Great Catch by Patricia Pruitt, RN

Submitted by kbrobertson on

During a patient transfer from one care area to another, Patricia noticed an order that appeared inconsistent with the patient's plan of care and prompted further review by the care team. After further review, a discrepancy in the order was identified and corrected before it could affect patient care.

Patricia's attention to detail, critical thinking, and willingness to speak up exemplify our commitment to patient safety. Patricia's actions helped prevent a potential error and ensured the patient received the intended treatment.

Carol Crigger "Miss Carol" joined Dining and Nutrition Service in 1972 at Roanoke Memorial. She was only 21 years old and wanted a little extra money to buy Christmas gifts for her son, then only 2 years old. She now has a beautiful family that consists of 3 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Not many people know that Dining Services was located on the 13th floor. Miss Carol served our patients from that location for 30 years. She has loved to see the hospital grow. One of her favorite things is the co-workers and friends she has made over the years.
