Elsevier Clinical Skills—What to Do by Oct. 15 and Other Important Deadlines

We now use Elsevier Clinical Skills instead of Cornerstone to more efficiently track and validate essential skill validations that must be completed during orientation and annually. These validations confirm the knowledge and skills needed for your role and quality patient care.

As a reminder, Wednesday, Oct. 15 is an important deadline for employees with incomplete orientation, post-orientation and advanced checklists in Cornerstone. 

What to Do—For Employees Completing Orientation, Post-Orientation and Advanced Checklists in Cornerstone  

If you are an employee who will not complete Cornerstone orientation by Wednesday, Oct. 15, follow these steps:

1. Download and save your orientation, post-orientation and advanced checklists from Cornerstone. Use this job aid to export your competency checklist history.
2. Complete the in-progress orientation, post-orientation and advanced checklists through normal processes.
3. Send the completed orientation checklists to the Education and Organizational Development email box at educationandorganizationaldevelopment@carilionclinic.org.
4. Submit your orientation checklist to your leader to keep in your employee file.

What to Do—For Employees Assigned Elsevier Clinical Skills

1. If assigned, complete the course, Required - Elsevier Clinical Skills: Your Reference and Skill Validation Tool - Workday by Thursday, Oct. 16. This course is an introduction to Elsevier Clinical Skills, our organization's authoritative reference for clinical procedures and source for managing the skill validation process. 
   If it has not been assigned to you, you may enroll yourself and complete the course.  
2. The course, Elsevier Clinical Skills Extended Support for Clinical Leaders & Clinical Educators - Workday builds upon the previously mentioned digital course. Completing both courses helps leaders and educators support their teams with the transition to Clinical Skills. Clinical leaders and educators can register for this virtual live course.
