Tips To Stay Hydrated This Summer

National Hydration Day is June 23rd!

Here are some tips for staying hydrated and healthy this summer:

  • Drink your water: Instead of waiting until you’re thirsty, drink water throughout the day to maintain adequate hydration. Pro tip: infuse your water with natural hydrators, such as strawberry, watermelon, or cucumber.

  • Wear loose-fitting, lightweight clothing to let your skin breathe: Dark colors absorb heat, so wear lighter tones to keep you from overheating too quickly.

World Hand Hygiene Day was earlier this month and a good reminder of the importance of hand hygiene and the proper ways to implement, monitor and report it. However, here at Carilion we focus on hand hygiene 365 days a year.

Hand hygiene is the foundation for excellent patient care and a requirement among employees for reporting agencies. It’s a simple and effective infection prevention strategy that makes a big difference in keeping our patients safe and saving our hospitals’ resources.

It was done using the single-port da Vinci robot, a minimally invasive technique that results in fewer incisions and a quicker recovery time. Carilion’s Urology team continues to lead the way in offering cutting-edge treatments.
