SafeWatch Gets an Upgrade!

Beginning Aug. 1, you will notice changes to the SafeWatch portal when you report an event.

Why? Because we listened to you! Entering a patient safety event, near miss or unsafe condition takes time out of your busy day, so we’re making your experience better.

The Clinical Advancement and Patient Safety team, Human Factors and Technology Services Group (TSG) partnered to apply Human Factors principles to the SafeWatch system. These are principles that design systems and processes around human capabilities.

The goal of the upgrade was to make reporting easier and less time consuming based on your feedback. That means when you log on to SafeWatch starting Aug. 1, you will notice visual changes to the portal that make it easier to navigate. The number of clicks, the need to scroll, and ultimately, the time it takes to make an entry, will all be reduced!

In keeping with the need for ease, you won’t have to do anything differently to report. You will still use the SafeWatch logo to enter the portal, and from there, submit the event, near miss or unsafe condition. Of course, calling 540-981-7233 (7-SAFE) will remain an alternative route to reporting, as well.
