It has been a great few days for our Carilion Warehouse Supply Chain team.  They have been busy supporting, filling, and transporting the supply needs for the opening of the Crystal Springs Tower. Each and every team member takes it all in stride and works with dedication and a smile to make sure the patients get the needed supplies for their high quality and state of the art care at Carilion. Thank you all for what you do for our patients, staff, and community.

While returning to the hospital after assisting with a transport, Security officer Justice Wood spotted two very young juveniles riding their bikes across the bridge in front of the hospital. Wood decided to investigate because of their apparent age and the dangerousness of their actions near the bridge.  He was able to get them to stop at the hospital and called for Police assistance to help determine why they were riding in traffic. The juveniles were determined to be reported as missing. Due to Officer Wood's actions, the juveniles were safely returned to their parents.

A newly diagnosed diabetic came to the pharmacy at Crystal Spring to pick up her blood sugar testing supplies and insulin. My WONDERFUL coworker and fellow pharmacist Elene Stratton at Medical Center Pharmacy took the time out of our hectic shift to sit down with the patient and demonstrate how to use each of her supplies and how to inject the insulin. Unexpectedly, the brand-new glucometer would not register the patient's blood sugar.  During conversation, the patient stated she had labs drawn the day prior and her blood sugar was over 700.

Carol Hendrickson noticed a garbage receptacle overflowing near one of the gazebos located on the walking path around CRNV and Outpt surgery center. In efforts to keep our property clean and safe she made the extra effort on her next lunch break walk  to be sure to take a bag and pick up the scattered trash.
