Today our CFMH Acute Care and ICU staff celebrated their hard work and diligence in preventing Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). Our ICU celebrated 7-months HAI free and our Acute Care Services celebrated 3-years HAI free. Thanks to all of you for your efforts in preventing harm and improving outcomes for our patients.

This recognition was awarded by the Virginia Water Environment Association (VWEA) Industrial Waste & Pretreatment Committee, following a nomination from the Western Virginia Water Authority. The award honors over five consecutive years of permit compliance, a testament to the team's commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.

To enhance safety and strengthen support for behavioral health teams, Carilion Clinic Police and Security has launched a Special Conservator of the Peace (SCOP) role within our organization.
This role provides dedicated security support for patients in custodial care, ensuring that our police officers remain available for broader law enforcement functions while SCOPs focus on keeping our staff, patients, and visitors safe.
While on my lunch break, I was eating my food and began choking. After attempting to get the piece of food out by myself unsuccessfully- my unit director, Stephanie Voss, recognized my need for additional assistance. She jumped right up and assisted in dislodging the foreign body. With her help, we were able to get the piece of food out. Thank goodness I could breathe again! Without Stephanie I would have been in a very different situation.
