On 2/9/2026 at approximately 9:40 a.m., a patient arrived at the Southeast Family Medicine clinic for a lab appointment. Upon greeting her, HAA Mrs. Gwen Jones observed that the patient appeared pale, short of breath, and stated she “did not feel like herself.” Mrs. Jones immediately offered to schedule her with a provider, securing a 10:00 a.m. appointment.
I wanted to send a big thank you to Bill Becker and the staff of the Maintenance and Facilities Management Department for helping keep the grounds clear and safe for us to get into work during the recent (too many!) snowstorms. Thank you, Bill and crew, for all of your hard work to keep us safe!

RMH PACUs have been working hard on decreasing medication override rates to improve patient safety. 4 South PACU override rates started out at ~30% of all medications pulled from Omnicell machine. A goal of < 15% was set, and the team has surpassed that with dropping down to ~12% this last month. Please give a shoutout to all those working in the 4S PACU who have made this possible.
Congrats to the Life-Guard team who celebrated 45 years of service to the community on Feb 5. As the FIRST air medical helicopter in the Commonwealth of Virginia, we aim to continue blazing trails and to never rest on our laurels! Many thanks to the founders who brought this vision to a reality in 1981. And to all of the supporters along the way!
