During our effort of detection and prevention of COVID 19 via screening patients, visitors, and peers, our Carilion Police and Security Team do a great job of keeping us safe, eliminate any inadvertent situations. Eric Brown, from the Police/Security Team, has demonstrated Carilion best values of Commitment and Compassion. Despite his designated rounding duties to keep us safe, Eric has taken the time during each round to ask questions, ease our concerns, and provide helpful solutions regardless if it is night or day shift. It is the things you do, Eric, that make a big difference.

When attempting to toilet my patient, I discovered that I needed assistance returning her to bed. I summoned the help of another RN but we were not able to return the patient back to bed. I went over to 7 west to borrow a lift, where I found Trevor Sprouse at the nurse's station. He volunteered to come and assist us with the lift. He not only gathered the sling and the lift but also came to assist us with the safe transfer of my patient back to bed. He also stayed and helped us get her re-positioned in the bed.

The other day I went to complete an EKG on a patient and an Xray Tech by the name of Emmanuel Garcia who was cleaning his x-ray machine after leaving the patient's room .  He asked if I was going into that particular patients room that he had just come out of.  He stated that if I wanted him to he could come in and explain the ekg in Spanish to the patient.  Its easy to get in a hurry in our day to day tasks and I really appreciate him taking the time to make this patients experience more seamless and positive experience! Thank you Emmanuel!

Like many other clinics, all of the staff at Carilion Clinic Staunton -  providers, nurses, and HAAs have made so many changes to keep our patients and each other safe!  This staff is dedicated to the organization and to taking care of our community!  Between all 14 staff, our years of service with Carilion total just over 115 years!!!  This is amazing!  I'm so thankful to work with each and every one of you!

Going Beyond the Call. I want to thank Megan Morton who was acting nursing supervisor for the night in question for helping me when a sterilizer was down in CSS. We face timed and looked at the equipment in question which would have required me to normally come in which is a 45 min drive for me. Thank you for going above and beyond the call of duty.
