Jen Bath was chosen as this year’s recipient of the TEACH (Teaching Excellence Academy for Collaborative Healthcare) Award for “Scholarship of Teaching and Learning”!

As a recently discharged patient waited for his ride home in CRMH's Discharge Hospitality Lounge, he raved about the green beans he had been served earlier this week.  He shared that he and his nine siblings had savored the fresh green beans (a welcome, frequent staple) their mother had prepared for them as they grew up in southwest Virginia.  The gentleman declared the Carilion green beans (in a medley "with pickles!") the most appetizing and delicious he had ever tasted.  Kudos to everyone in Food Services who feeds and nourishes our shared patien

On 10/23/20 in the Blacksburg Ortho clinic, we had an unexpected cutoff of our internet service then we had minimal internet service. Through use of mobile hot spots, laptops and a few of our usual computers that still had Epic working; we were able to see most all of our patients and only had to reschedule a few to another day.

Thankful for a Dr. Maher, Karlie DiRuzza, PA, Tyler Samuels, Kim Talbert, Julie Block, Anna Kirk, Elaine Blackford, Matthew Russell, Jo Vinson and Susan Turner.

We made a great team. Committed to providing care for our patients.

A shout out to Sam Lucas, NRV Distribution. Sam is safety focused in all he does. He noted the exit from the parking lot has grown up and was blocking the view to the main road and posed a safety issue. Sam came by after hours and cleaned the brush and hillside. We can now all exit the parking lot with safety and Sam in mind !! Please take a moment and thank Sam for thinking of all of us !

Melila is our awesome CTL for Pediatric Specialty clinics and Endocrinology had a nurse out for the last 2 weeks on vacation and Melila has been an awesome help! We are so grateful for her ability to help wherever needed and her smiling face!

Congratulations to the following nurses who earned CAP recognition at CNRV. They continued working hard through all the obstacles thrown their way this year. We appreciate all of their contributions across our hospital and beyond and look forward to their continued professional development in the years to come!

Dr. Chad Henry has been serving as a Hospitalist on 8 West for the last several months while we are a Covid unit. He is such an integral part of our team, he is so genuine and kind to both patients and staff. Its the small things that make a difference. He doesn't hesitate to carry empty boxes and help with supplies. We truly appreciate everything you do! Thank you Dr. Henry.
