Michelle was a brand new EVS employee and was called to clean a discharge room.
As she started cleaning the room she found a needle in the food tray cup holder.
She properly disposed of the needle to prevent harm to others.
Catching the needle in the wrong place potentially prevented a needle stick for herself and dietary.
Thank you to Lynn Baringer for her generous donation of $15,000 to Carilion Clinic’s Cancer Center fund. Baringer, a cancer survivor and former patient of Dr. Bill Fintel, shared her story of hope and healing in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Miracles and the Unexplainable. Proceeds from her book sales made this donation possible.
Cari Vest, SLP was selected by her peers as the December Ripple Award recipient for Giles. The ripple award is based upon a quote from Dalai Lama, where "just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals have far-reaching effects".

U.S. News evaluated nearly 650 hospitals that provide high-quality labor & delivery services for uncomplicated pregnancies for its 2022-2023 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care. Fewer than half received a High Performing designation.

Shout-out to CRBH for taking the time and putting in the effort to enter a float on behalf of our hospital in the Lexington Christmas parade this past Friday evening. Many folks put in much hard work and effort into decorating this float, and also in taking part in the parade. This is a great example of CRBH's commitment to our surrounding community. Great job!
I have been with Franklin for over 5 years and every single time I work with Mary I know she has my back. She has amazing nursing skills, great sixth sense and alerts me early when things are not quite right. She gives reliable feedback regarding all patient issues. She communicates very well with patients and keeps families informed.
Exceptional work ethics and bedside manner! And she does it all with a smile, even on challenging days.

Cori Hagee is our social worker/therapist on the Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation Program Team in the ED. She is a wonderful team member as she is always willing to help and remains pleasant and professional throughout all interactions. She is an amazing patient advocate and relentlessly pursues excellence in patient care. She is a delight to have on our team and most certainly an asset in every way. Thank you for all you do.

All of our EVS staff do a wonderful job keeping our rooms here in Psych Rehab sparkling clean. In particular, a new EVS employee, Denari Whorley, carries out his responsibilities with a mark of excellence. He always wears a big smile, greets staff enthusiastically, and after cleaning a room, leaves the patient's towels and wash cloths arranged at the bottom of the bed in his signature arrangement. Keep up the good work, Denari! It's a pleasure to work alongside you here at Carilion!
