Radiologic Technologist - Limited Program at Roanoke County Public Schools

Submitted by khthompson on

Carilion Clinic has partnered with Roanoke County's Burton Center for Arts & Technology to offer Roanoke County Public School high school Juniors and Seniors a Radiologic Technologist - Limited program. This 2-year program will academically prepare students to take the ARRT Limited Scope of Practice in Radiology exam.

The inaugural cohort for this program started in August, with students having the unique opportunity to be taught at Carilion Clinic Children's located in the Tanglewood Mall. These students will use the state-of-the-art Pinnacle X-ray Machine to practice positioning techniques without exposure to radiation!  Students are instructed by Mrs. Cheryl Cunningham who is a ARRT Registered Radiologic Technologist with 36 years of experience and over 14 years teaching experience.

On October 11th the Burton Center for Arts & Technology hosted an open house for all their programs. Carilion Clinic staff was in attendance and presented the program to prospective students and their parents/guardians.

We are excited to offer this opportunity to our community especially since this program is only the second of its design to be offered in the Commonwealth of VA! If you or someone you know has a Roanoke County high school student that is interested in learning more about this program, please contact the instructor Mrs. Cheryl Cunningham at 540-769-0907.
