Groundbreakers: Organizational Changes

With Gary Scott’s sudden passing last month, a huge hole was left in our hearts as well as a void in our team. As we evaluate our current leadership needs in the Department of Surgery, we’ve asked a familiar face, Stephen Lovern, to take on the role of interim vice president. We’re grateful for Stephen’s willingness to step into this position, particularly during this difficult time.

Stephen received his L.P.N. from the Roanoke Memorial Hospital School of Practical Nursing, a B.S.N. and an M.S.N. from Jefferson College of Health Sciences and a D.N.P. from James Madison University. He began his career providing bedside care on the surgical progressive care unit and spent almost a decade at CFMH before coming to CRMH. Since 2010, he has been a leader in the Department of Surgery and most recently was senior director of Operating Room Services.

Stephen is a passionate advocate for his team members and his patients, and he is a shining example of a servant leader. Please join us in congratulating him on his new role as interim vice president of the Department of Surgery.
