Perseverence: Medication Assistance for the Giles Community!

Kristin Johnson, Giles Medication Assistance Pharmacy Tech, does not give up in the face of adversity!  Knowing that patients in Giles County face significant barriers to affordable medications, transportation and low literacy, Kristin goes above and beyond to help our patients obtain medication assistance.  Recently she helped a diabetic patient who had given up on treatment because he could not afford his medications.  He had Medicare, but not Part D (medication coverage).  She identified resources to address short and long term solutions.  She was able to assist him in enrolling in Medicare Part D and to obtain free medications through a pharmaceutical manufacturer's program.  She delivered these forms to his home to obtain his signature. This ensured that he has the resources available to better manage his diabetes.  Way to go Kristin! You are truly a Carilion Citizen!  Thank You!
