An Update on Carilion Children's Tanglewood Center

Extensive renovations are underway, both inside and outside Tanglewood Mall in Roanoke!

Officially known as the Carilion Children’s Tanglewood Center, the building is planned to be completed in August 2021, with an official opening in early October.

The building will be home to our Children’s outpatient specialty practices. It is designed to make it easier for our patients and their families to access health care. Many of our pediatric patients see more than one specialist, so having many of those specialists in one place will offer a one-stop shop for quality pediatric care.

The facility will feature:

• More than 77,000 square feet on two floors of the former JC Penney department store
• Imaging and lab services
• Telemedicine capabilities
• 120 exam rooms
• Multiple consult rooms
• 700 parking spaces
• Covered entrance with Guest Services support

The following pediatric practices will have space in the new center:

• Adolescent Medicine
• Behavioral Medicine
• Cardiology
• Child Development
• Child life (there will still be offices at CRMH)
• Dentistry (adult Dentistry will also be there)
• Endocrinology
• ENT (adult ENT will also be located at Tanglewood)
• Gastroenterology
• Genetics
• Jefferson Plaza general pediatric medicine
• Neurology
• Pulmonology
• Surgery
• Therapies including physical, occupational and speech
