Compassion at it's Best : Luois Kost, RTII
Hello,
During my leader rounding on 7SPCU this past Monday, one of my patients -a Mr. H...- told me about the very pleasant experience that you offered as you visited with him for his treatment. Mr. H is a post open heart surgery patient. He was in a bit of pain and a bit emotional with the implications of post-open heart surgery. He told me that you were THE MOST inspiring and most caring care team member thus far. Patient stated that you stopped to talk to him; to really TALK WITH him. You showed empathy and understanding of what he is going through. You took the time to explain to him what to expect and how to best care for himself henceforth. Although he had heard similar message from the provider, from the nurse, etc... he said, the way you talked to him made a HUGE difference. Thank you so much for being relatable; for your empathy; for your gift of time and compassion to this patient. I have no doubt that you have extended yourself this way to many other patients. I am also quite certain that it is not only what you said to this patient, or how you said it, it is mostly how you made him feel. He was- and still is- indeed grateful.
I appreciate you and I commend you for showing and living OUR VALUES.
Take a bow-)
