Amazing Patient Care

We had a patient fall in the parking lot at ION today. I just wanted to recognize 3 individuals who I feel showed great compassion and care for this patient.

First is Amanda Bennington who attempted to catch the patient when they fell and did not leave her side until an ambulance arrived.

Second is Naomi Stone, LPN who provided head and neck support for the patient to prevent any further injury. The patient was also very disoriented and unaware of where she was. Naomi continued to reassure her that she was a nurse for Carilion and explained what had happened to the patient. She did this repeatedly several times while we waited for an ambulance to arrive.

Third is Anita Weber, LPN who was screening at our front entrance went to the parking lot to assist Amanda after the patient had fallen. She also helped keep patient calm and reassure her that help was on the way.

This was great teamwork and compassion for our patient.
