Taking Care of the Entire Family

Carilion Hospice of Franklin County cares for their patients AND family members—even if they have 4 paws and are a little stinky. One current patient with no family is very bonded with her rescue dog, Buddy, a large but docile companion who loyally stays by the patient’s side all day. His only problem was he needed a bath.  The hospice team stepped in to help!  

Sharon Yeager, RN, identified the patient’s need for some help with Buddy, and Juliane Cook, CNA, donated the use of a large doggie crate for transportation. Social worker, Julie Mooney, and volunteer coordinator, Tina Williams picked him up and took him for bath time at a local dog wash.  Buddy was the only one who smelled and looked better after the adventure, but the patient was certainly appreciative of the team putting forth the extra effort for her best pal.
