Daisy Award Nomination

Alexis Drury, RN at the Birthplace was nominated by three of her patients. She shows compassion and committee to every patient no matter the circumstances or time. Below is what the patients had to say about the care Alexis provides:

#1: Our baby had an apnea issue during the first breastfeeding after delivery. Alexis was helping Emily with breastfeeding and saw the baby turn blue. Alexis was calm in taking the baby and bringing her back to normal color. Alexis stayed with Emily for the next three feedings to help Emily with her nerves from the event.

#2: She always had a smile and at 3am that’s hard to have sometimes. She would see me and jump up already willing to take my baby to the nursery so I could sleep for a little bit. She will be a great choice for the award in my opinion. EVERY single staff member was Awesome, they all deserve an award!

#3: Alexis went above and beyond with a great attitude the whole time she was with me. When I was pushing to have my baby I was having trouble getting her out. It was almost to the point of using a vacuum or having a c-section. Alexis suggested tug-of-war and pulled with me because of this technique I was able to give birth to my baby without added intervention.
