Singing Them Into Heaven
There is a CNA on Med Surg at CGCH that is known all over our hospital for her sweet voice and the kindness she shows to our patients, particularly those who are transitioning from this life to the next. Tammy Via with her beautiful voice often uses her talent to calm and comfort patients by singing to them. Many times Tammy's sweet voice singing is the last thing they hear in this world and what a lovely sound it is.
The following note was submitted by a patient's family member recently:
"We would like to thank Tammy so much for singing to our aunt the other day. You sang her right into heaven. As you sang sweetly at her bedside, her breathing calmed and then she took her last breath and went on to Glory."
I think we all would hope to experience that kind of peace and calm in our last moments and I believe it takes a special person to provide that for someone else. Thank you Tammy for Caring for your patients and your community.
