Parking staff gets fan mail!
Carilion’s parking team is getting a reputation—for kindness, compassion and patience.
These employees often encounter patients and guests who are frantic, nervous or in pain. And yet, they treat these suffering people with such warmth and gentle concern that two people recently took time to write letters about their experience.
One type-written letter came from a local medical transport driver, who routinely drops off patients at Riverside 3. He raved about the parking team there.
“As the driver, there is always a greeting because they know my face with as many times a week I see them. Not only do they respond quickly to help my loading/unloading the wheelchairs, but usually a little joking among all of us breaks the nervousness of the patients…”
Another letter came from the caregiver of a patient seriously injured last fall in a car crash and diagnosed with cancer at the same time.
“I am writing to recognize the valet parkers,” the caregiver said in a hand-written letter about the parking teams at CRMH and the Cancer Center. “They are very respectful and have the best attitudes. They make a very bad situation very pleasant for us. I cannot say enough about them.”
Carilion knows it has a great parking team. We’re pleased that others know it, too.
