Finding Better ways
Meet Carmen Nolen, a Nurse Practitioner who works for Cardiothoracic surgery at RMH. Last fall, a non-English speaking patient underwent cardiothoracic surgery. At the time of discharge, it was apparent this patient had extensive difficulties understanding their medication regimen. Carmen found a cleaver solution to help. She purchased a medication pill box with a sun and moon picture to help aid this patient in understanding when to take their medicine. Since then, a Carilion logo medication box has been made for instances such as this. Way to go Carmen for finding Better Ways to serve our patients!
