The Sustainability Champions Recognition Program spotlights employees who exemplify Carilion Clinics commitment to sustainability and have shown leadership to catalyze change for a more sustainable CommUNITY. Actions big and small all matter!
For the month of May, 5W Med Surg Unit Director Tammy Mitchell, is recognized as an individual who has made a Sustainability impact at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Tammy is a vital part of our organizations delivery of sustainability actions and projects. She is known for using resources wisely to cut costs, considering the environmental impact of our work and talking to her staff and others about Sustainability.
Her past and current initiatives include:
-Champions 5 West Waste Not- Want Not Committee to decrease waste and reduce costs
-Leads Linen Efficiency Project and Awareness
-Supply Waste Reduction
-Vial top collection/recycling for patient rehabilitation
-Earth Day Crafting Event Volunteer
-Reuse of Styrofoam coolers from Pharmacy for patients to hold and take home food their family brings
-Creates sustainable practices with employees
