CGCH Daisy Award Winner

Veronica Stump, Director of Nursing at CGCH was recently honored with the Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Veronica was nominated by her peers in the Emergency Department who saw her caring for a patient as she lay dying. That staff member was inspired by Veronica's caring and compassion and wrote this nomination:

"A gravely ill patient came to the Emergency Department. Veronica had worked many years with this patient until their retirement and stayed with her while her family was gathering. She spoke words of comfort as well as remembrances of days passed. She laughed and cried with this patient until efforts to keep her alive were no longer viable. Veronica stayed with her, soothing her , while her family gathered around. Veronica simply did what any devoted nurse would do. It's so very lovely to imagine that the nurses I call my family away from home would help me find solace in my last moments. Veronica did just that."
