ECHO creates commUNITY among colleagues

Carilion Clinic's Department of Psychiatry was selected as one of three hubs for Virginia's Project ECHO (Extending Community Health Outcomes).  Dr. Marrieth Rubio was the featured presenter at the latest of these biweekly videoconference educational learning opportunities that provide best practice information regarding office-based opioid treatment.  Each 2nd and 4th Friday at 12 noon ECHO sessions are broadcast from the Psychiatry Department throughout Virginia with a particular focus on reaching the southwestern part of the state. The goal is to extend the reach of evidence-based care for the opioid use disorder to underserved areas.  Dr. David Hartman facilitates Carilion's ECHO Project inviting guest subject matter experts and leading a case consultation segment.  The interactive video technology fosters a sense of collegial commUNITY, providing support to the health care professionals helping reduce the impact of the opioid epidemic through medication-assisted treatment combined with comprehensive care.
