Random act of kindness

Submitted by akschjonning on

Last week as I was leaving the cafeteria, I noticed a woman standing outside the "smart vending" area, looking a little lost. I asked if I could help her, and she replyed, "I just need a Dr. Pepper for my granddaughter, who just had a baby." I havn't used those machines and was trying to figure them out when Brittany McCollum with EVS came in to get herself something. I asked if she knew if the machines would take cash. She asked what we needed and then proceeded to scan her fingerprint and buy the Dr. Pepper. When the lady asked where to pay, Brittany told her not to worry about it.

I felt that her compassion towards this woman and, her not only offering to help us, but also to pay for the lady's drink went above and beyond. She made the process so much easier for this woman and I could tell that the woman was so grateful. It is these small acts of kindness that our patients and visitors will remember when they leave. Thank you Brittany, for being such a positive example for all of us to follow!
