Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) Mary Fitzgerald Saves a Visitor

Submitted by mthirsch on

Mary Fitzgerald, CRNA  was getting morning coffee when she was approached by a volunteer who was calling for assistance with a visitor who was unconscious in the 3rd floor women's restroom. Mary immediately assessed the situation, where she found a patient unresponsive and pulseless. After directing the volunteer to obtain an AED and call for help, she started CPR.  Mary performed chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth ventilation until help arrived. The patient was eventually taken to the ER and subsequently regained consciousness after medical intervention.  Mary selflessly took care of a visitor and took charge of the situation.  She is an excellent example of compassion and caring and we are proud to call her a colleague.
