Mental Health & Women's Services collaborate on new clinic model
We launched our first integrated obstetrics and behavioral health clinic on October first, bringing specialized services together in one location to make care more coordinated and convenient for patients.
The weekly clinic, located at Carilion Mental Health Tanglewood, brings together obstetric care, psychiatry, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT). Led by Dr. Ollendorff with OB/GYN and Dr. Simcox with Mental Health, the clinic is only the second in Virginia to combine all three services in one setting.
The new model allows patients to receive care from multiple specialties without having to travel to separate offices for appointments. The clinic has dedicated exam rooms and the capability to provide services including lab work, ultrasounds, and fetal monitoring.
Patients are connected to the clinic through a provider referral to the Emerald Program.
The clinic is the result of collaboration between our OB/GYN and Mental Health teams and represents a new approach to coordinating care for patients whose needs cross specialties.
By bringing these services together, we aim to simplify the patient experience while supporting more connected, comprehensive care.
