A heartfelt thank you to Andy Green, the Palliative Care Team, and Htin Dingra for demonstrating the true meaning of Carilion Clinic’s value of Compassion this past weekend.

This team learned that a palliative care patient on 10 South was celebrating a birthday over the weekend and went above and beyond to ensure this special day did not go unnoticed. Through their thoughtfulness and persistence, they arranged for the patient to receive flowers, balloons, and a birthday card—creating a meaningful moment of celebration for both the patient and their family.

These seemingly small acts of kindness can have an extraordinary impact, particularly during some of the most difficult moments a patient and family may experience. The dedication of Andy, the Palliative Care Team, and Htin to recognize what mattered to this patient is a beautiful example of whole-person care, compassion, and exceptional service.
