Emergency Medicine Physicians Receive Prestigious Research Awards

Congratulations to Katherine Mayes, MD, PhD, emergency medicine physician, and Davin Combs, MD, fourth-year medical resident and EMS fellow, who each have received grants from the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Foundation.

Dr. Mayes’ award is an ARMED (Advanced Research Methodology Evaluation and Design) pilot grant that will provide a year of mentored support to advance her research, “Blood-based Biomarker Assessment in Geriatric Falls with Head Impact.”

Dr. Combs’ grant, a Simulation Academy Novice Research Grant, will support his project, “A Novel Simulation Approach to Prehospital Triage for Active Threat MCI.”
